Snowbird

Don't they all look like they are enjoying the first snow storm of the year!
Emily and her cousin Evan on the tram.
Ian, Blake, Jake and Sean on the tram.

Well every year Eric's side of the family goes up to Snowbird where his parents have a time share. When Fall hits we all start getting excited that Snowbird is almost here. The time share is from a Sat. to the next Sat. We always go up the first weekend and it is a blast with everyone. We ride the tram, play games, watch movies, go to the Snowbird center, eat, eat, eat, stay up late, and play bingo on Sunday after Grandma makes a great dinner. Then we go home for a couple days and come back up the following weekend. This year Fall break was Thurs. and Friday so we were able to go up more this year and we loved it. We swam in the pool everyday, played games at the game room, and just had fun relaxing in a beautiful setting. The kids are a perfect age this year. Old enough to do their own thing but young enough not to get into trouble yet. Boy, do I cherish this time right now. Well the weather this year was awesome too. The first weekend we had snow! The only bummer was that it was crazy cold and snowy and 0 visibility up on the mountain when we were on the tram but it was fun to see the beautiful snow again. Then the rest of the time we were up the weather was absolutely gorgeous and fall and warmish cool. Hee Hee. We so love it up there and love to ooh and aah over the colorful leaves. Utah is amazingly beautiful. Here are some pics of the tram/snow time. I wasn't to good at picture taking this year.

Ian's first band concert

Ian with his Grandma & Grandpa Butterfield & Grandma Penny
Ian performing one of his songs during the concert. He's is in beginning band and is doing percussion. Here he is playing the xylophone/bell kit. Doesn't he look handsome.

Emily's new haircut

Emily hasn't had bangs since she got her first haircut at two. She has been asking for bangs lately like her cousin Amanda has. Well, last night mom took her to Great Clips and we cut off about 3 inches on the bottom and gave her some bangs. She looks more grown up now and mom and dad aren't sure they like that quite yet.
She looks cute and she loves it. I guess that's worth it.

Jake's 1st Pinewood Derby

Jakob and his dad were very creative for this pine wood derby. Jake loves army everything so they created a tank derby car. They went to Hobby Lobby and found camouflage wrap for the car. They put half of an army dude on top and painted a pen for the cannon. Eric sanded down the wheels thin to have a good advantage on the speed. They finished it about 10:00p.m. the night before the race. The next morning Eric got up at 5:00 a.m. because he couldn't sleep because the wheels weren't up to par. What a cute daddy! I came in at 6:30 to see the finished product. Needless to say, Eric is quite the derby dad. Jake took 2nd in the whole Derby and had a great experience with his dad. I am grateful for Eric and how dedicated and caring of a dad he is. Good job both of you. Jake got the "hardest to find in the grass" award and a ribbon for participating. One of our favorite activities in scouts by far. Until next year....

Fall Flag Football

Jakob just finished Flag football last week and really enjoyed it. He had a great coach and team and made some new friends.
He is a great receiver and the team overall did really well.
He has also improved a lot on his throwing distance and accuracy. I love doing the 6-8 week sport thing. The kids get to have a taste of the sport but not get burnt out on it for a long time. Jake just loves getting treats at the end of the games and putting another trophy on his shelf. That's my kind of involvement. Here's to a few months off until Junior Jazz Basketball!

Student of the Month

Here is Emily receiving her student of the month award at her school assembly. We are very proud of her in working hard at school. She was awarded the "best friend award" for the month of September. Her teacher said that Emily is very kind to others and if someone gets hurt she always goes over and comforts and helps those in her class. Keep up the good work Eme.

Our cute little vampire!

Emily lost both her front teeth in the middle of August and we call her our little vampire now.
Uncle Steve pulled out the first one at Lake Powell and Emily pulled out the second by herself. Doesn't she look adorable. She is a true first grader now. Unfortunately, they are growing in fast. Thank goodness for pictures.

Livi being one of the boys.

I love this picture of Ian and Jake and their cousin Livi. One night we were babysitting her and she decided she wanted to be like her older cousins. So, she took her shirt off and hung out with the boys. I walked into the family room and couldn't help but crack up. Oh Livi, you are a nut and we love you. I had to take a pic.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Grandpa Meyer just came to visit for his birthday and we also put him to work so we can get Ian's room done downstairs. The kids love having Grandpa around and hate to see him go back to California. Grandpa has worked so hard and been so sweet to build Ian's room. We love you Grandpa.
